LIGHT WAVES !
… or sometimes it just shoots you the finger !!!
Theoretical physicists have argued that light is a wave … which implies the existence of a medium in which the wave may propagate.
Others aver that light is certainly a particle.
Violá! (sic) Note 1
Others, bridging the gap with strings of melodic harmony, have decided that the truth lies – not in between – but in both camps.
“Light is both a particle and a wave!”
To those who advocate the wave form, I ask “What and where is the medium?”
For the particle advocates, I ask “What is the mass of a beam of light?”
Notes:
1 Voilá : Function: interjection. Etymology: French, literally, “see there” — used to call attention, to express satisfaction or approval, or to suggest an appearance as if by magic.
Viola: a misplaced violin. (“What’s nice fiddle like you doing in a piece like this?”)
